The Come Up and DC Shoes threw a benefit jam for Brett last weekend. The event was a huge success and raised a good amount of money. There’s a Photo Gallery on TCU which includes this photo of  Hucker riding the vert ramp.

“In 1989 I moved to Huntington Beach, California and my life was forever changed. I met Dave Cymer, John Paul Rogers, Ron Bonner and Kim Boyle during a visit earlier in the year and it was such an awesome time riding with those guys that when my family wanted to move to California I said Hell Yeah. Dave Clymer is who introduced me to Chris Moeller and that’s when i got hooked up with my first S&M.” – Keith

By 1991 we got him off his PK Ripper and onto a Dirtbike. Keith rode hard on everything from dirt to vert and frequently dislocated a limb doing it! Keith’s FTW attitude, antics and balls-out riding style made him one of the most memorable team riders we’ve ever had.

Arguably the most influential team rider we’ve ever had, Dave Clymer was a bad ass! He could race, dirt  jump, and ride street/ramps as good as anyone and influenced a whole generation of future S&M team/flow riders like Taj, BF, Todd Lyons and Jimmy Levan in the process. As a testament to his popularity, we once sold pieces of Dave’s old dread locks for $ 2.00 each. Dave’s famous pick-up line “Feel My Leg Muscles, I’m a Racer” even became the title of our first video.

John Paul moved out to CA from Florida in early 1989 and was a huge part of making S&M what it quickly became. With his quick wit, sharp tongue and extended dirt jumping variations, John Paul pissed some people off, made others laugh and usually ended up with a photo in the magazine. We couldn’t have asked for a better team rider. After blowing his knee out in 1991 and coming back in 1992, he had his custom knee brace stolen by Keith Treanor and more or less retired from seriously riding his bike at that point. John Paul returned to S&M in 2000 and among other things, helped get Brian Wizmerski and Bob Scerbo on the team.
